A commercial proposal sent from a free address tells the client, before they read the first line, that the company has not yet invested in the basics. But image is not the bigger problem.
The account does not belong to the company
When the salesperson leaves, the address goes with them — and so does the whole history of conversations with clients. With your own domain, the company creates, suspends and transfers accounts at will.
What you gain in practice
- Addresses by function — sales@, support@, billing@ — that survive anyone’s departure
- Access to correspondence history when someone changes role
- Better message delivery, with SPF, DKIM and DMARC records configured
- A consistent corporate signature across the whole team
What it costs
Less than most companies expect. The domain is annual and email accounts are charged per mailbox, which lets you start with two or three and grow with the team.
